Friday is for the Doe-See-Doe

Last night I had the pleasure of watching two old gray-hairs play their music and harmonize sweetly together, clearly having the time of their lives. Chris Hillman and Herb Pederson. It was a real joy to hear them play. As for musical pedigree, check out Hillman's discography.

Chris was a big part of the creative interplay of country/folk/bluegrass and rock. Here's a nice little interview with Chris, for those of you who are interested:



Okay, so all this has me browsing through YouTube and happening on great Byrds video, CSN&Y, Flying Burrito Brothers, etc. But one of the great things about YouTube is that it allows you to stumble on so many unexpected gems. So here's the great John Paul Jones on mandolin, doing the old Zep song, Going to California, acoustically. This is simply beautiful:
