I take both those questions personally. And I think I'll cheat and answer them both with a single book. Since my son is reading Les Miserables and praising it to the high heavens, and since I haven't read that since high school, I'm thinking that will be my next "re-read" of 2007. And it ceretainly qualifies as a "serious novel." Oh, and btw, in case you've ever wondered . . .
